Compact, Powerful, Cool-running 12-channel Amplifier Sets New Benchmark for Multi-room Custom Installation Applications
LEXINGTON, Ky. -ELAN™ Home Systems' remarkably powerful D1200 Digital Power Amplifier has begun shipping, the company announced today. A breakthrough product with Class -T digital amplifier technology, the D1200 provides cool power at a 90 -percent efficiency rating, delivering 100 watts at 4 Ohms to 12 channels simultaneously. The D1200 can definitely "Rock the House" while remaining cool and clean -sounding.
"We're meeting a very specific multi -room custom A/V need with the D1200," said Paul Starkey, ELAN's Executive Vice President. "Our low -heat/high -efficiency design, coupled with front -panel readouts and controls, make this amp the installer's choice for multi -room custom installations."
Because of the D1200's cool -running digital technology, this unique amplifier can be installed in enclosed areas such as custom cabinetry without the worry of it overheating itself or other components. In addition, the unit is slim at three rack spaces high, instead of the five -rack height of comparable amplifiers available today.
While the D1200 is small in size, it is big in power. It is able to drive up to six stereo pairs of speakers, 12 mono speakers or any combination of the two. And, because it is stable down to 4 Ohms, multiple speakers can be connected to each channel without the need for impedance -matching volume controls.
ELAN designed the amplifier for the custom installer, with 12 inputs that can be configured for mono, stereo, bussed mono or bussed stereo. ELAN also eliminated the need for extra patch cables and Y -cords through two universal stereo buss inputs with buffered outputs.
The D1200 is the only digital amp with anti -clipping features, which are provided by ELAN's patent -pending ACE™ (Automatic Clip Eliminator™) technology. ACE is a microprocessor -controlled dynamic leveling circuit that eliminates clipping without the typical audio degradation of traditional compressor -based clipping circuits.
"We expect the price, power and efficiency to appeal to our dealers and their clients," Starkey said. "The D1200 is essentially six stereo amps costing only $333 each -or 12 mono blocks at $167 each. Plus it saves installers money by eliminating the need for fans and extending the life of the amp, while also saving installers space by keeping the D1200 at three rack heights.
"Given the D1200's best -of -breed feature set, ELAN's installer -friendly design and a strong backlog of preorders, there is every indication this amp will become a specialty dealer favorite."
The D1200 carries an MSRP of $1,995 and comes with a two -year manufacturer's warranty.
