CHECKPOINT™ INTRODUCES SA-S™ SOUND ALIGNMENT SYSTEM

Professional Tool Can Be Utilized By Audiophiles For Speaker Placement & Alignment

TORRANCE, Calif. (June 30, 1998) – Audiophiles can now purchase the Sound Alignment-System™ (SA-S™) from Checkpoint™ Laser Tools, a unique kit to help the user accomplish the full performance promise manufacturers designed for their speakers.

This sonic potential is achieved through a proprietary laser tool that enables exact directional placement of any monitor, satellite or home theater sound system relative to the exact seating or listening station with incredible consistency and accuracy.

Initially introduced as part of a professional certification program for custom installers and dealers, the consumer version of the SA-S system ($149.95) features a specialized alignment laser tool, accessories, procedures and documentation to let the user align and directionalize sound systems with pinpoint laser accuracy.

"The SA-S system is the most innovative and unique development in the audio world since the cone speaker itself," said Jim Webb, President of Checkpoint. "This system, which has been long overdue, allows speaker and audio manufacturers to encourage and enforce their stringent alignment specifications or recommended layout criteria to enhance and optimize the true qualities of their components' performance."

The tool allows the user to quickly move from speaker to speaker, locking in the directional sound to an exact listening location. For even greater utility, a laser dot gives an excellent indication of speaker or monitor housing stability under varying load through a simple visual check of the dot's movement.

Additionally, exact component placement, degree offset and directional criteria can be achieved quickly, because the SA-S protocol includes angle layout guides, layout plot sheets, layout design forms and complete easy-to- follow instructions.

"Many audio enthusiasts will spend anywhere from several hundred to several thousand dollars on speakers and then guesstimate their proper placement and alignment, never realizing that precision can be achieved so easily and so inexpensively," continued Webb. "For slightly under $150, the user can maximize his investment in a good to great speaker system and achieve the kind of sonics the manufacturer intended through proper alignment and placement."

The SA-S tools that comprise the system include the 770 SA-S laser tool, a Mag Alignment Switch which magnetically attaches to the base plates for hands- free use and a standard Alignment Switch (non-magnetic) that provides a flush face to set alignment from any surface of the speaker housing without a base plate or magnetic attachment. Base plates can be permanently mounted to each speaker housing for a parallel and flush standoff platform for the SA-S system. Also included are "stackers" that interlock with –more-- Checkpoint Introduces SA-S, Page 3. the standard base plate for stand-off adjustment to clear speaker frames or protrusions. The stackers also serve to bring the base plate flush to the grille, so the SA-S work can be done without removing the grille.

A number of options, including several lenses for advanced and unique installation requirements, rotary bases and layout plot sheets for the advanced user, and a host of other high-quality, professional accessories for the advanced audiophile are also available. Many high-quality sound systems come factory equipped with SA-S base plates to aid in setup. Users should check with their dealer.
