UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL INTRODUCES THE HOME THEATER MASTER SL-9000, A TRULY UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL
Learning/Pre-programmed Remote Control Can Learn Over 350 Commands
NEW ROCHELLE, New York (August 7, 1998) Universal Remote Control has achieved the complete integration of home theater components with the Home Theater Master SL-9000 ($139.95), a truly universal learning/pre-programmed remote control capable of learning up to 376 commands, operating up to eight different audio and video devices and executing up to 250 macro commands. The SL-9000 is pre-programmed to operate over 1,000 different models of audio and video components (including many high-end components) by simply punching in a three-digit code for quick and easy setup. However, the unit's true universality is demonstrated by its ability to learn up to 376 commands from the user's original remote control. Using the learning capability in conjunction with the remote's extensive pre-programmed data base, the user can re-program keys providing the unique kind of customization and easy set up that only the SL-9000 provides.
The SL-9000 controls the TV (monitors, video/LCD projectors), VCR (TV/VCR combinations), Cable boxes (Internet set tops), and satellite receivers (DSS, Dish, Primestar, DBS, and C-Band). Of particular signififcanace are extensive selections for audio receivers (preamplifiers and Surround processors), compact disc changers and multi-disc units, DVD (laser disc players and cassette decks), and auxiliary devices (cassette tape players, DAT, Minidisc, switchers, lighting, home control devices and line doublers).
The SL-9000 also features a full complement of secondary functions, including Surround Sound controls, TV picture-in-picture, VCR program and timer, On- screen and menu functions, and CD disc and track among others.
The unit is also capable of creating a myriad of macro sequences. Twenty- five memory buttons send out up to ten commands each. For example, the POWER button can be programmed via the macro mode to turn on the TV, audio receiver, the VCR and the satellite receiver.
An Automatic Audio Mode is designed to provide convenient and continuous operation of a home theater's A/V receiver or premaplifier. This feature gives the user full and immediate access to the receiver's audio volume and surround controls in seven different device modes. The operator can watch a video program or listen to a CD and also adjust audio volume and surround levels in the same Device mode. The SL-9000 can also be programmed with "punch throughs" for volume, channel control, and transport control. Punch throughs allow the basic controls to operate in other modes on the remote control. For example, the user can raise, lower and mute the volume of the audio receiver while remote control is in the satellite mode.
An easy-to-read LCD display indicates the operating status of the remote at all times. The SL-9000 also incorporates a number of other conveniences, including memory back-up, a customizable LCD display, low battery consumption indicator, back- lit buttons for low-light or dark room conditions, and a smart ergonomic design with a strategic button layout for easy access to the most commonly used functions.
