The B.C. Advanced House is one of ten homes built across Canada as a
challenge put forward by CANMET (Energy, Mines and Resources Canada). This home was
designed by Richard Kadulski and built by Warren Jones in Vancouver, B.C.
Horizon Technologies was the key designer and implementer of the Home Automation System in
the B.C. Advanced House.
Horizon Technologies has based its' technology on the CEBus
Standard (Consumer Electronic Bus) to control the home appliances.
The HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air
Conditioning System) is state of the art with multi-zone
heating. The multi-zone controller was designed and constructed by Horizon
Technologies. The heating system includes a hot
water tank that supplies four zones of radiant floor heating and a four zone forced
air heating system. The air in the house is completely changed once every three hours
using a fresh air heat recovery unit.
More details of the home can be seen in this large cutaway view.
