Advanced Quonset Technology, Inc. June 1, 1999

Advanced Quonset Technology is announcing the release of a new version of its home automation software the Home Control Assistant. HCA 2.0 contains over 25 major additions and hundreds of smaller changes. A few of these major changes in version 2.0 are:

* New Quick Start Wizard. This comprehensive wizard starts with an X10 tutorial and guides a new user through their home suggesting where X10 devices could be placed. Upon completion of the wizard a complete working HCA design is created with devices, programs, groups, and schedules. These schedules are created by a sophisticated home usage pattern simulation.

* Complete support for the Marrick LynX-10PLC when it becomes available

* Enhanced support for the new generation of X10 modules. All the extended commands used by the LM14, AM14 and the Leviton 638x switches for preset dim (advanced dimming) and status checking are supported. If supported by a device, advanced dimming is used for all illumination changes. A command confirmation option is available for modules that support status checking.

* Version 1.0 Design Inspector expanded and enhanced into the version 2.0 Troubleshooter. Runs in the background and gives you an immediate visual cue when it detects problems. Over twice as many conditions checked on than in version 1.0. If the issues found are not problems in your design they can be "checked off" and the Troubleshooter will no longer report them.

* Import from existing ActiveHome and HomeDirector files. No need to reenter all your data when upgrading

* A new schedule option to simulate your schedule for one or more days. See immediately what your schedule does over time
