Inaugural ISC EXPO/Miami -- Brings Southeastern U.S. and Latin American Buyers to
International Security Conference & Exhibition

Norwalk, CT. (May 26, 1999) -- Finishing a successful inaugural run in Miami, International Security Conference & Exhibition (ISC EXPO) delivered new business opportunities in the Southeast U.S. and Latin American markets. Held on May 4 and 5 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, ISC EXPO/ Miami provided a forum for new product introductions, the latest technology, industry trends and the emerging future of property and life safety.

ISC EXPO/ Miami attracted a total of 4,154 pre-registered industry professionals with representation from the U.S. and 44 countries. Latin American representation included Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Cayman Islands, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Martinique, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

By locating ISC EXPO in Miami, exhibitors were able to reach the Southeast U.S. market, which comprises nearly 21% of the overall end-user security market and 25% of the dealer/installer market in the United States. The Miami location provided Latin American attendees with very valuable liaisons that would not be available with any other market. The event featured an exhibition with more than 180 industry-leading companies in nearly 30,000 square feet of exhibits, showcasing the latest in personal and business security information, state-of-the-art security equipment, services and technologies.

Many attendees took advantage of the fastest and most convenient opportunity to see and compare state-of-the-art security solutions. Echoing sentiments from many attendees and exhibitors, Ken Jacobs, Sales Fleet, Hauppauge, NY said "ISC EXPO/Miami is an excellent opportunity for suppliers and clients to build business relationships."

John Wiles, PE, Seta of Brevard, Inc., Melbourne, FL agrees, "ISC EXPO/Miami gives me the chance to learn all about new products and meet the cutting edge of security technology."

Attendees included dealers and installers, end-users, architects, builders, commercial system integrators, communications systems installers, electrical contractors, facilities managers, government agencies, home system integrators, HVAC consultants and installers, law enforcement officials, locksmiths, and loss prevention managers.

"We are very pleased with the launch of ISC EXPO/ Miami," stated Eileen Baird, industry vice president for Association Expositions and Services (AE&S), producers and managers of the event. "ISC EXPO/ Miami gave ISC exhibitors an opportunity to reach the Southeast U.S. and Latin American markets, two key geographic markets that previously had not been drawn to the other ISC events."

"The added attraction of South American endorsements from Associacao Brasileira des Empresas de Seguranca Electronica (ABESE); and Asociacion Latino Americana De Seguridad (ALAS) strengthened the value of this event for exhibitors and attendees," said Ron Spiller, Executive Director of SIA.

Running concurrently with the exposition, ISC EXPO’s highly structured conference program of 50 leading-edge seminars and workshops were developed in conjunction with the members of the ISC EXPO Conference Advisory Board. Some of the most popular sessions were The All Campus Card: Security Applications and Opportunities for the 21st Century, Covert CCTV Systems: The Hidden Information Source and Digital Video: The Real Story. In addition to providing participants with techniques and skills needed to advance in the rapidly evolving security industry, ISC programs offered NTS and ASIS Continuing Education Units.

Among conference program highlights included the free Target Zero Symposium, sponsored by the Alarm Association of Florida which featured a roundtable discussion about the politics and prevention of false alarms. Other big draws to the conference program included Electronic Vehicle Monitoring and Surveillance Systems Using GPS Technology, one of five courses presented in Spanish. In addition, four of the general conference program sessions offered simultaneous translations in Spanish and Portuguese.

ISC EXPO/ Miami was sponsored by the Security Industry Association (SIA). It is endorsed by AAF, the Alarm Association of Florida; ABESE, Associacao Brasileira des Empresas de Seguranca Electronica; ALAS, Asociacion Latino Americana De Seguridad; CCTMA, the Closed Circuit Television Manufacturers Association; SECURITY Magazine, and Security Distributing & Marketing Magazine.

The location of the third ISC EXPO event will alternate every other year between the Southeast and Midwest, and some 80% of the overall U.S. security market will be addressed with each two-year cycle of the ISC family of events. Exhibitors and attendees will be surveyed by independent researchers to evaluate the market demand for the continuation of the Miami event on an annual basis.

ISC EXPO/ Miami is one of four Reed events connected to the security industry. The other events are: ISC EXPO/ New York (August 31- September 2, 1999 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center); ISC EXPO/ Las Vegas (March 14-16, 2000 at the Las Vegas Convention Center) and ISC EXPO/Chicago, co-located with The Home Automation Show & Conference (June 21-22, 2000 at Chicago’s Navy Pier).
