United Kingdom Home Automation Mailing List
Bulletin Number 12 - 20 May 1998
by Mark McCall

"For those of you that missed it (although I'm pretty sure I emailed everyone that I know on the planet) UKHA was mentioned on Bob Tomalski's "Gadget of the Week" spot on Talk Radio while he was discussing X-10. Thanks again to Bob for help "spreading the word"!"

Mark McCall is the webmaster at the UKHA (United Kingdom Home Automation) website.

The site can be visited at
http://www.ukha.demon.co.uk

or you can send email to Mark at:

COVERED IN THIS BULLETIN
o New Mailing List
o EcoSwitch
o UKHA On National Talk Radio
o Hot News
o UK Wall Switches
o New UK X10 Alarm/Heating Control
o Reminder - UKHA Has MOVED!!
-----------------------------------------------------
o New Mailing List
-----------------------------------------------------
Well...if you reading this then the new mailing list is working! Lets hope this service is a whole lot better than the Coollist one was. So far so good though and there are some nice additional features like an automatic archive of the list (see details in sig below on how to post to list and where to find the archive).

o EcoSwitch
-----------------------------------------------------
I've just added the EcoSwitch to the Reviews section of the web site. These new switches from AEI Security Ltd are well worth checking out and with an upcoming feature on the cable and satellite shopping channel "QVC" you'll be able to pick them up at a special price! Watch the web site for more details as I have them.

o UKHA On National Talk Radio
-----------------------------------------------------
For those of you that missed it (although I'm pretty sure I emailed everyone that I know on the planet) UKHA was mentioned on Bob Tomalski's "Gadget of the Week" spot on Talk Radio while he was discussing X-10. Thanks again to Bob for help "spreading the word"!

o Hot News
-----------------------------------------------------
The "Hot News" page of the web site has had some interesting stories lately including details of a new UK based muti-room system as well as more info on the B&W "Casa" multi-room product. If you'd like to receive an email automatically when the site is updated go to the "Updates" page and enter your email address in the form at the top of the page.

o UK Wall Switches
-----------------------------------------------------
UK wall switches - the Scarlet Pimpernel of the UK HA world - are "on their way". No firm dates are available but it is thought they should be here in the not too distant future. Hmmmmmmm.....

o New UK X10 Alarm/Heating Control
-----------------------------------------------------
I've been hearing about a new UK alarm panel that will have an X10 ability built in (with the addition of a TW7223). The system will also allow control of heating system (possibly over the phone). Details are sketchy at present. More info as I have it.

o UKHA HAS MOVED!!
-----------------------------------------------------
As announced in the last bulletin UKHA has now moved. The old BT Internet site has now gone for good. Please update your bookmarks (and tell your friends). The new URL is...
http://www.ukha.demon.co.uk

The new email address is...
Mark@UKHA.demon.co.uk

As usual I'd appreciate some feedback on this bulletin (just to check I'm not talking to myself!) and the web site in general. That's it for now.

"Happy Days"

Mark McCall

PS  Just uploaded another new review. It's a little device that plugs into your PC's printer port and turns your computer into a learning IR universal remote. http://www.ukha.demon.co.uk/review-pcremote.html
