Monitoring your home, business, animals and the kids over the phone.
by Richard Wixted, VitalPoint

"The application uploads images over the phone line (from the PhoneHub) for viewing on your personal computer or laptop. The application is menu driven, you may skip through single or continuous images ("1 image every 2-3 seconds") from a single camera or pole multiple cameras consecutively"

VitalPoint designs and manufacturers visual security products for the home and business. These products are used to view local and remote sites. This can be done using a regular phone line for remote sites or direct wiring for local sites. This is done with the use of cameras, a standalone hardware PhoneHub, and a software application named PhoneHub, which runs on your home or personal computer. The PhoneHub hardware is a standalone unit, not a card that plugs into your computer. It also has its own modem. There is no Internet or network connection required. The web site for this product is located at http://www.vitalpoint.com

Product Introduction

PhoneHub is used for the remote viewing of any place, person, object or situation over a standard phone line. PhoneHub can also be used locally, with direct wiring and no phone required. The product comprises of three components;

  • PhoneHub - the application "software".
  • The Camera - or monitor "hardware".
  • PhoneHub - The connection device "hardware".

Software

The software application PhoneHub runs on Microsoft Windows 95. The application uploads images over the phone line (from the PhoneHub) for viewing on your personal computer or laptop. The application is menu driven, you may skip through single or continuous images ("1 image every 2-3 seconds") from a single camera or pole multiple cameras consecutively.

Hardware

The PhoneHub is a computer which is fed with images that are gathered from a single camera, or up to a maximum of 32 cameras,"(NTSC or PAL Composite Video cameras)". The main PhoneHub has support for 4 camera connections, and or 4 breakout boxes, for a maximum of 32 cameras. Each breakout box will support 8 cameras off each port on the PhoneHub. There are 2 additional ports for phone/modem connection and a direct connection to the hub with standard phone wire. The maximum configuration requires 1 PhoneHub, 4 breakout boxes and 32 cameras, only one phone number and line is required.
