Peracom Networks

By setting her VCR to one of the camera channels, she was able to record the mares' progress during the night without waking up every hour or two to check in person. And by turning on the TV in the middle of the night, she could tell if the mares had already given birth - all from the comfort of her bed.

When Kirsti Kearney was feeling sleep deprived, she looked to the company she worked for, Peracom Networks, for a unique technical solution. Kirsti had been staying up several nights in a row to monitor the progress of two mares that were about to foal.
The problem was that the mares were in the horse barn a few hundred feet from her home. She wanted to witness the births if at all possible, but the births could happen at any time of the day or night.

Avcast by Peracom, along with a couple of wireless X-10 cameras, solved the problem. Kirsti had already installed Peracom's Avcast Media Kit in her home in order to view and control her cable box from every TV. Next, Kirsti put a 2.4 Ghz X-10 camera in each horse stall. The camera communicated to a receiver located in the home. By attaching an Avcast MediaCaster to each camera receiver, Kirsti was able to integrate the cameras into the Avcast network and view each camera from any TV in the home. She had created her very own MTV channels (that's MareTV for your city slickers).
