WIRELESS SYSTEM TRANSMITS HIGH QUALITY AUDIO AND VIDEO SIGNALS THROUGHOUT HOME
The Leapfrogâ WaveMaster
TM from TERK Simplifies Multi-room Viewing and Listening without Additional Wires.Las Vegas, Nevada (January 7, 1999) FOR RELEASE AT ICES 1999 LVCC South Hall Booth # 3441 and LVCC North Hall Booth # 6530 --
TERK Technologies announces the Leapfrogâ WaveMasterTM wireless audio/video transceiver system. The new WaveMaster allows users to transmit high quality audio and video signals on the 2.4GHz frequency band from one room to another. Users can watch cable or DSS or listen to their CD player without a separate hookup and without running additional wires throughout their house. While the Leapfrog HomeNetwork is the ideal solution when the phone jack is next to the TV, the WaveMaster provides similar functionality when phone jacks are not available. The WaveMasters built-in modulator (combined with RCA jacks and an F-connector) make the product compatible with all televisions without the need to purchase additional connectors. The latest RF-Link version will not include this feature. Designed with a new housing, the WaveMaster features a lighter body and two-tone coloring and will be sold with all new consumer packaging.
A transceiver system, the WaveMaster uses a directional antenna to send RF signals from the transmitter which is wired to the A/V output on a source component, to the receiver which is connected to a TV, powered speakers or other system (up to 300 feet line-of-sight) at the other end of the house. The system works with DSS, cable, DVD players, audio systems, and even home surveillance cameras; it can penetrate walls, floors, and ceilings. By transmitting on the 2.4 GHz frequency, the WaveMaster avoids static and interference found on the crowded 900 MHz band and ensures video or audio signals that are comparable to that of the original source. The four separate channels allow up to four transmitter/receiver pairs to operate simultaneously with existing audio and video components.
Two models of the Leapfrog WaveMaster, the WAV-100 and the WAV-50 will be shipping to retailers in early 1999. The difference between the two lies in that the WAV-100 comes with a remote control extender that allows viewers to operate the source component from the viewing room, while the WAV-50 does not.
Included with the Leapfrog WaveMaster are 12-volt ,U.L.-approved power adapters for the transmitter and receiver, audio/video cables to connect to existing components, and an infrared extender mouse to control the A/V source (WAV-100 only). The MSRP for the WAV-100 system is $249.95. Additional receivers for multiple TV or speaker installations may be purchased for $174.95 and additional transmitters for sending from multiple sources may be purchased for $124.95. The WAV-50 system will retail for $199.95. Additional receivers will retail for $129.95, and transmitters for $99.95.
