Telect’s New VersaFrame® S-Video Module Routes High-Quality Signals to Deliver Broadcast Quality to the Home;
Module Saves Money, Provides Flexibility;
Will Debut at 1999 Home Automation Show

LIBERTY LAKE, Wash.—Delivering broadcast quality video to the home just got easier and more affordable, thanks to Telect’s new VersaFrame S-Video router module. The new 8 x 8 YC (S-VHS) switcher module routes signals throughout a typical home without signal degradation, providing users unparalleled flexibility and signal quality for home audio/video systems.

Telect, an international manufacturer of audio and video system control equipment, will debut the new module at the upcoming 1999 Home Automaton Show & Conference, February 6-8, in Orlando, FL (booth #441).

The new 8 x 8 YC routing switcher docks in Telect’s configurable VersaFrame® signal management system. The module features S-Video ready inputs and outputs (4-pin plug) and handles multiple levels and multiple system addressing for more control flexibility. When used in the VersaFrame, the module can be integrated with other system components with 8 levels of breakaway, as typically featured in broadcast-level products. Additionally, it features individual front panel gain control for luminance and chromanance on each output.

Homeowners will enjoy the module’s ease of operation and maintenance, as well as superior

signal quality compared to composite or modulated video. Dealers will appreciate the ease of installation and the ability to configure the S-Video router with audio levels ranging from two to six channels.

The module is the latest addition to the VersaFrame, Telect’s modular signal management system that supports analog and digital audio and video signals, all with "hot swapping" capabilities. An industry leader in configuration flexibility and packaging density, the VersaFrame simultaneously handles conversion and control modules plus routing switchers—all in the same versatile frame. It has 10 available card slots for system expansion, with a UL-listed power supply occupying the 11th card slot. The system can easily be custom configured, letting dealers add value while developing solutions to fit every different homeowner’s needs.

The VersaFrame system can grow as needed to meet the demands of a changing

environment, since the modular design allows for cost-efficient expansion in small increments. Users can closely select the actual capacity required, knowing they can easily expand later. A variety of scaleable router and application modules are currently available, including audio and video distribution amplifiers, serial digital distribution amplifiers, serializers and deserializers, stereo audio amplifiers, router controller modules for smaller configurations, plus a 16 x 16 serial digital router. The addition of the new S-Video routing module adds even greater flexibility to the system, giving users more choices.

Telect’s comprehensive line of professional audio and video modules, controllers and lifetime warranted patch panels create complete systems for home automation environments, as well as broadcast, cable TV, post production, distance learning and other professional audio/video applications. The VersaFrame serves as the focal point for systems that require a modular or expandable system. In addition, Telect’s broadcast-quality Mica Peak™ configured router series provides an economical solution for configured systems.
