WHAT WE NEED IS ...!

A new column for the HTINews ... What We Need Is ...! Send your needs to bobh@hometoys.com and we'll see what we can find or at least use this column to let those manufacturers and software engineers know what it is that we the consumers want to buy and use. Please let me know if these things are available, coming soon, good idea or just plain crazy. I'll keep the threads going as long as the feedback keeps coming in.

Bob,

For X-10 lighting - I've got the Radio Shack Plug'n'Power to turn on several lights. Any place have something to send a signal at dusk?

You're looking for a "Sundowner" available at any of the Mail Order outfits.

Out of the realm of X-10, etc. How about a cordless phone / TV remote combo? One less gizmo on the sofa!

Tim Wolf (trw90@usa.net )

Yes that's a good one. Specially if you're into HAL2000 for voice control of the house.

What I really need is a box that translates RS-232 to Sony LANC and allows me to control several Sony VCRs simultaneously via my computer. Infrared control of my VCRs isn't reliable enough.
