Up until now, people were forced to physically contact their surge protector in order to operate it. Enter the Remote Surge. This model puts power control directly into user’s hands . . . or feet! By pulling the hard-wired remote control from the surge’s power station, the control for three outlets can be operated from up to six feet in distance. Or, by leaving the remote securely snapped into the suppressor, it instantly becomes a floor unit with easy, under-desk foot control.

With the ever changing "ins and outs" of home and office computer products, plus the influx of choices, it’s hard to tell what a person should pick up this upcoming year. However, with the high-dollar home office equipment investments that consumers are making, protection has never been more essential.

Most consumers probably don’t get all that excited while purchasing a surge protector - - until now. Interex, a 16 year-old computer accessory company, has introduced a line of surge suppressors that are a marriage of high quality protection and good looks. The Premiere Surge line from Interex provides users with three uniquely designed, application specific power protection devices.

With the highest Joule protection ratings now on the market, all three models in the Premiere Surge line include important features such as a lifetime/$500,000 equipment investment protection rating, lifetime warranty and internet-ready modem protection. They’ve even thrown in a 10-ft. phone cord with all models. As for critical protection concerns, all models feature a thermal fuse that automatically cuts the circuit if dangerously high temperatures are detected; thus prolonging the life of costly electronics.

By pulling the hard-wired remote control from the surge’s power station, the control for three outlets can be operated from up to six feet in distance. Or, by leaving the remote securely snapped into the suppressor, it instantly becomes a floor unit with easy, under-desk foot control. This model retails for approximately $34.99 and will be available this March.

The Base Surge is another sleekly designed model that home office users will appreciate. This flat, under-monitor surge can handle monitors up to 21 inches in size and features five independently switched power outlets, one switched outlet, protected incoming/outgoing data lines, and multiple LED feedback lights.

The Base Surge retails for $45.99 and will also hit store shelves in March.

The Traveler Surge is the mobile model of the group, and a perfect traveling companion for any laptop computer user. Although it is ‘micro’ in size, it is ‘macro’ in protection; small enough to fit in a hand, yet packing a 510 Joule protection rating. It features two power outlets and three protected data ports. Plus, a trio of LED’s keeps the user informed of the power status. The Traveler retails for $14.99, and is also available in March.
