IES products to be highlighted on "21st Century Home" on cable television's Home and Garden Channel
SANDY, UTAH — OCTOBER 24, 1997 — Intelligent Electronic Solutions (IES), Inc. announced today the company’s products will be featured on "21st Century Home" on the cable television channel Home and Garden.
The format of "21st Century Home" is to highlight technologies and trends in today's modern home with emphasis on products for the future. IES products used in the showcase home are featured as solutions to residential structured wiring for today's and tomorrow's telephone, computer, security, entertainment and video needs. The episode highlighting IES products will be aired Thursday, December 18th at 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Pacific or 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Eastern. "We were excited to showcase IES products in the home of one of our Authorized Dealers, Light Resources of Millbrae, California. The remodeled three-story house is an example of the efficient use of structured wiring products and intelligent electronic signal distribution systems from IES. The fact that this was a retro-fit lends credibility to the usability of our products," said Russ Warner, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at IES, Inc.
IES products provide a complete network for home and office equipment and services. Julie Brown and David Saari of Light Resources, husband and wife team, homeowners, and IES Authorized Dealer, have installed in their home a multi-line telephone system, fax machine, computers with modems and a computer network, cable and satellite TV, as well as security cameras. IES products used include a
Pro 12 FutureProof™ Interactive Network (FIN™) Panel, an Ethernet Hub, a Visitor Security Hub, SpeedWrap™ Cable, and wall receptacles.
Specifically, the house was wired home-run style with IES SpeedWrap Cable, which includes Category 5 twisted pair (telephone/data), quad shield RG6 coax, and multi-mode fiber optic cables. IES FutureProof™ Interactive Receptacles (FIRs™), which are specialized wall plates, were installed in various rooms, including the kitchen, to provide the in-room connection to each electronic signal network. As a result, the home will have multiple locations for telephones, faxes, modem connections, and cable/satellite TV signals, as well as support for the in-home computer network. With the computer network, printers, files, and programs are shared between Julie and David's offices and the desk of their daughter, Katie. From the kitchen, Julie places orders via the Internet with a local grocery store for a weekly food delivery. Also, IES' Visitor Security Hub provides the interface for using any telephone in the house to speak to visitors through a speaker at the front door. With a closed-circuit camera also at the front door, visitors can be seen on any TV as well as heard.

"21st Century Home" is hosted by Craig Miller and is in its 1st season on cable television's Home and Garden Channel. The program gives homeowners a preview into the technologies used in modern and future living.
