Canadian company pairs with Cadence to speed
development of innovative home networking products

DALLAS, Texas - June 24, 1997 - Quebec City, Canada-based Domosys
Corporation unveiled a line of home networking ICs here today at
CES-Habitech '97 that will enable ordinary household electronics to
communicate over standard power lines.

Domosys utilized Cadence Design Systems' professional services to speed time
to market for its CEWay PL-OneÔ and CEWay PL-IIIÔ single-chip home
networking devices. The team of Cadence engineers dedicated to the project
worked onsite at Domosys' Canadian headquarters and at the Cadence Design
Center in Rancho Bernardo, Calif.

"Partnering with Cadence enabled us to beat time-to-market projections by
nearly a full year," according to Evan Price, president of Domosys. "Home
networking is one of the fastest-paced and largest potential markets in
electronics. Leveraging Cadence's technology and design expertise gave us
just the competitive edge we needed."

A key component of the Cadence solution was its Alta system-level design
technology. Use of Alta's SPWÒ tool suite permitted "virtual prototyping" in
software of the ICs prior to production, significantly cutting redundant
design cycle time and confirming the design's performance.

CEWay Product Descriptions

CEWay PL-One :

A single-chip home network device for small applications, e.g., switches and sensors. This device implements the CEBusÒ Standard* physical layer with a proprietary DSP and 8052 microcontroller core. The CEWay PL-One ships in a 68-pin PLCC package and is $11.75 in quantities of 10,000. Engineering samples will be available September 1997.

CEWay PL-III :

For larger home network applications, e.g., controllers. This device fully implements all the services of the CEBus physical and data link layers as well as integrating the same proprietary DSP as the CEWay PL-One. The CEWay PL-III can be linked to the host processor or microcontroller via a parallel or serial interface. This device ships in a 32-pin PLCC package and is $9.75 in quantities of 10,000. Engineering samples will be available
September 1997.

*CEBus Standard :

For Consumer Electronic Bus. CEBus is the leading open communications protocol for in-home networks and is supported by more than 75 well-known manufacturers including AMP, Honeywell, IBM, Intel, and Thomson.
