Savoy Automation, a leader in Windows-based software tools for automation, monitoring and control applications, announced today that it has entered into a joint marketing relationship with Cutler-Hammer, a global manufacturer of residential and light commercial electrical distribution equipment. Cutler-Hammer will help promote and market Savoy software as part of Cutler-Hammer’s Advanced Power System™ (APS), the first energy management system to utilize the loadcenter (power center) to monitor and control energy for residential and light commercial applications.

Used in conjunction, Cutler-Hammer’s APS and Savoy software create an intelligent power center-based system that allows users to monitor electric useage and manage it via remote-controlled circuit breakers. In the residential application, the system is operated via Savoy software that runs on the home personal computer.

In light commercial facilities such as chain stores, restaurants, office buildings and multi-tenant buildings, separate power centers are linked to a centralized computer that is connected to the Internet. The Cutler-Hammer Advanced Power System enables facility owners to bill tenants individually for their electric useage. The software can be configured to take advantage of lower utility rates by automatically turning off circuit breakers to avoid peak rates (load shedding), resulting in significant cost and energy savings.

Capitalizing on the combined technology is Doug Blattner, founder and chief technical officer of Community Vision, a leading developer of community intranetworking software and systems. Blattner’s patent pending software and hardware networking and interactive messaging product called SynapseServer™ can facilitate the collection of aggregate information about energy usage.
