HOME AUTOMATED LIVING WINS INDUSTRY AWARD
Laurel, MD 2/9/99
Home Automated Living (HAL), is a 1999 winner of the Home Automation Associations coveted Mark of Excellence award. HALs entry in this years competition was the HAL2000 voice controlled digital home systems integration software package. The Mark of Excellence award cites HAL2000 as the product that most seamlessly integrates the various subsystems of the home into a single unified home automation"system".
TOTAL INTEGRATION
Security, HVAC, Lighting, Audio/Video, Telephone, Internet
HAL delivers an X-10 (CM-11A) powerline interface with our software. As a result, the broad spectrum of devices that operate on the X-10 powerline protocol can be seamlessly integrated into a single unified home automation system. A wide variety of manufacturers are now producing a long menu of X-10 protocol devices including security panels, thermostats, electrical outlets and switches, lamp and appliance modules, and a host of other devices.
HAL2000
goes beyond simple X-10 support to include custom interfaces for more than a dozen proprietary systems from other manufacturers. Those systems and their manufacturers are listed below:With our existing menu of interfaces, HAL delivers full integration of previously unrelated subsystems including lighting, audio/video, security and HVAC. But HAL goes even further to include telephone and Internet functionality.
Telephone Integration
HAL software delivers full telephone answering features including voice mail, Caller-ID, caller-specific greetings, etc. But more importantly, HAL integrates the power of the phone with all of the other systems in the home. HAL can be configured to have the phone call the user if a security zone is breached, if a basement sensor detects water, if a child does not return home after school. Telephone integration coupled with HALs voice recognition features enables the homeowner to manipulate all of the systems of the home, with simple spoken commands, from anywhere in the home or anywhere on Earth.
Internet Integration
HAL automates the Internet by dialing out to the Web at user-defined intervals to retrieve weather, TV listings, stocks, traffic, E-mail, sports and news. The information is available to the user on demand. Internet information integrates with the home theatre to automate VCR programming. Integration with the telephone enables the user to access Internet information including E-mail via phone using HALs text-to-speech technology.
