AOL PRESIDENT BOB PITTMAN TO GIVE LUNCHEON KEYNOTE ADDRESS DURING CEMA’S RETAILING & THE INTERNET CONFERENCE

Arlington, Va., April 12, 1999 – Bob Pittman, president and chief operating officer of America Online, Inc., will give the luncheon keynote at the Consumer Electronics Manufacturers Association’s upcoming one-day conference, Retailing & the Internet – a One-Day Investment with Net Payoffs, to be held May 18 at the Omni Dallas Park West in Dallas, Texas. Pittman will discuss the interactive medium as the next great consumer industry.

Pittman joins Darryl Peck, president and CEO of Cyberian Outpost; famed author and journalist Jaclyn Easton; and other Internet pioneers in discussing the future of e-retailing. Conference attendees will learn from their industry peers and e-commerce experts on what works and what does not when it comes to Internet sales.

Pittman oversees the overall day-to-day operations of AOL, the world’s leader in branded interactive services – with more than 18 million subscribers of its combined online services, tens of millions of users of its Web products and almost $4 billion in annual revenues. He also is responsible for the further development and implementation of AOL’s innovative multi-brand strategy, including the integration of the recently acquired properties of Netscape and oversight of the e-commerce alliance with Sun Microsystems.

The conference is co-sponsored by the American Hardware Manufacturers Association, Electronic Retailing Association, National Housewares Manufacturers Association, North American Retail Dealers Association and Professional Audio Video Retailers Association.

Advance registration fees for Retailing & the Internet are $595 for sponsoring/co-sponsoring association members and $895 for non-members. Advance registration ends May 7 for Retailing & the Internet. On-site registration is $995 regardless of an attendee’s affiliation.

To register for the conference, call 703-907-7600. Detailed program and registration information can be found at http://www.retailweb.org .

CEMA is a sector of the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA), the 75-year-old Arlington, Virginia-based trade organization representing all facets of electronics manufacturing. CEMA represents more than 500 U.S. manufacturers of audio, video, accessories, mobile electronics, communication, information technology and multimedia products that are sold through consumer channels.

CEMA also sponsors and manages the International CES – Your Source for Workstyle and Lifestyle Technology. All profits from CES are reinvested into industry services, including technical training and education, product promotion, engineering standards development, market research, and governmental and legal affairs support.
