AMX/PHAST Embrace Home Networking Alliance (HomePNA)
HomePNA Group sets standard for networking over home phone wiring

DALLAS - In its continued drive to become the open control platform of choice in the home and office, the AMX Corporation (Nasdaq: AMXX) and its PHAST subsidiary have become the most recent members in the Home Phoneline Networking Alliance. Known as HomePNA, the group is an association of industry-leading companies working together to ensure adoption of a single, unified phone line networking standard and rapidly bring to market a range of interoperable home networking solutions.

John McHale, AMX’s recently appointed chairman of the board stated, "The AMX companies are poised for explosive growth in the residential arena. Our PHAST line of home automation is already recognized by many as the category standard. By joining arms and adopting the Home Networking Alliance concepts, our entire product line becomes and integral part of an easy to install home network. The PHAST Landmark and AMX AXCESS control systems ship today with Ethernet connectivity options, making them ideal for connection to the phone line networking structure of HomePNA."

"Joining industry giants AMD, Tut Systems, IBM, and many others in the effort to deliver easy-to-use and affordable networking solutions once again gives the AMX consumer choices when it comes to information, entertainment, and control in the home," stated Dave Hill, VP of residential technology for AMX. "With our PHASTLan™ and PHASTCast™ data traveling over existing phone wires in the home, our products become much more acceptable to the existing home marketplace, which in the past has been a minor part of our dealers’ business."

Recently, AMX announced the plans for an Internet Appliance division, which will also benefit from the Home Networking Alliance as it provides low-cost solutions for the delivery of Internet content in the home. AMX General Manager Residential Business Tom Hite comments, "It’s not possible to stand alone in this marketplace and grow at the rate the Internet demands. Our association with the Home Networking Alliance is just one more way for us to express our desire to partner with the companies who are shaping the future of the network in the home."

AMX Corporation, in concert with its wholly owned subsidiary PHAST Corporation, is the worldwide leader in integration network systems, innovations that bring people in touch with their technology. Specialists in the science and art of control, AMX Internet-active systems harness the power of electronic media, mechanics, and information so that technology behaves as a natural extension of our lives. Located in Dallas, Texas, with offices around the world, AMX stock is traded on the Nasdaq stock exchange under the symbol AMXX.
