The Cartoon Dreams of the Jetsons Become a Revolutionary Reality

The Advantage 2000 Simplfies Life in the Kitchen for the New Millenium

SEATTLE -- CMi Worldwide, the Seattle based company, has developed and patented the Advantage 2000, a complete interactive kitchen resource center. The innovative information appliance was created to simplify the power of interactive computing technology to enhance the quality of life at home, particularly in the kitchen. The Advantage 2000 will be available to consumers in summer 1999.

The Advantage 2000 supports the multiple activities that are conducted in today’s “hub of the home” ranging from cooking, doing homework, office work, talking on the phone, paying bills, research, playing a game, reading, interacting with family and friends, and relaxing.

“The time that is spent in the kitchen today is no longer limited to preparing meals,” said Bob Lamson, CEO, CMi Worldwide. “The Advantage 2000 is designed to support the extensive activity that occurs in the kitchen and to provide consumers with a product that integrates advanced technology and entertainment platforms which naturally fit into the kitchen environment and lifestyle.”

The Advantage 2000 has easy one-touch access with its patented infrared remote control and keyboard that is shockproof, greaseproof and washable. This simple functionality benefits consumers with convenience in the kitchen and the ability to instantaneously switch between the kitchen resource center’s entertainment and communications modes.

The Advantage 2000 has three model options including the portable model with an estimated retail price of $750-$900, the built-in CRT model with an estimated retail price of $800-$1,000 (both available with a nine inch screen), and the LCD flat panel model with an estimated retail price ranging from $1,500-$2,000 (available with a 12.1 inch screen). Special features of the Advantage 2000 include:

  • TV, music and video CD entertainment -- Advantage 2000 combines a 128 channel, cable-ready TV, stereo audio CD and video CD for a 3-in-1 entertainment center.
  • Internet and e-mail capabilities -- Fast, one-touch dial-up access to the Internet, e-mail and online navigation with the Advantage 2000’s customized online portal (cmiadvantage.net).
  • Home security monitoring -- View and communicate with guests at the front door, observe and monitor infants or young children from any room in the home with video cameras that can be installed throughout the house by a local security company and easily connected to the Advantage 2000.
  • Future home management -- Home appliances such as ranges, dishwashers and refrigerators, will soon have special chips installed to deliver important data to the Advantage 2000 as a central appliance status center.
