 Markit is a leading global financial information services company with 16 offices around the world. A decision was made to relocate the Markit UK Headquarters and in 2010 they sourced new premises in Ropemaker Street, London. Commercial fit-out specialists, Overbury, were appointed to refurbish the 4th and 5th office floors of Ropemaker Place, who then charged Smartcomm with the task of installing new Audio Visual systems throughout.

Featuring drag-and-drop functionality on a floor plan-based interface, the iPad app controls audio, HVAC, lighting, paging, intercom, security and surveillance. HomeSuite provides the client with similar look and feel across all control devices.

The 14,500 square foot Mediterranean-style home sits on a bluff overlooking the Arkansas River, and features 191 lighting loads, 33 audio zones, 19 video zones, 10 HVAC zones, 12 intercom zones, and 24 paging zones, all controlled by Crestron integrated home technology.

 To bring together a five-storey stand alone converted warehouse with such an advanced level of electronic integration a number of smart systems had to be used. Two major systems were chosen, AMX as the over-all control system because it brought the best customisation of graphics and flexible control capabilities to the home and Dynalite because it not only controlled all the different types of lighting throughout the home but allowed the connection of inputs and outputs to the environmental monitoring hardware; control of all motorised blinds, windows, roof, water and air pumps; complete customised and consolidation of switch plates capabilities and because it offered the most robust communications to master control systems (the AMX in this case).

 Our client sought to enjoy a similar experience from a local boutique-style movie theater inside his home on somewhat of a limited budget and with keen aesthetic concerns. He wanted to be immersed in the movie, which required a performance level, both sonically and visually, that pleased the musicians ears with as much detail that would be placed in the mural itself.  With one of his favorite colors being blue lapis, this became the foundation of the color palette. An asymmetric curved ceiling, unparallel walls, floating screen, and the mural are all unique elements of the room that provides an undulating, floating feeling as if being in the ocean.
