Leviton’s OmniPro ll Helps Provide Enhanced Access for Assisted Living Residents

Contributed by | Leviton

Leviton Security & Automation Installer C2 Automation, was recently contracted by the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) to provide residential automation functionality to six assisted living apartments in Melbourne, Australia. The facility houses a number of residents with acquired brain injuries and permanent physical disabilities resulting from serious road accidents.

Leviton’s range of integrated automation solutions were specified by C2 Automation to enable increased access and mobility for residents, and higher levels of monitoring and service for carers.

The system provides residents and caregivers access to the complex and their apartment through their iPhone using the Snap-Link app. This can be done from within the complex or remotely if required in an emergency. Residents also have control of various preconfigured ‘scenes’ such as “Arrive Home” – where Leviton’s controller opens doors, turns lights on, adjusts temperature, lifts blinds and logs the event with the caregiver so they know the resident is home.

This project utilized the following Leviton Security & Automation products:

  • OmniPro II controllers
  • Consoles
  • Wireless Receivers
  • Extended-range temperature sensors
  • Snap-Link Mobile for iPhone
  • Snap-Link Mobile for Android

The following products were also integrated into the project:

  • Somfy Blind Control
  • C-Bus Wireless Lighting
  • 2N SIP Servers
  • Ditek Door Openers
  • Split System Air Conditioners

Personal Carer, Brittany Bosch said, “…the system is very simple for us to use and offers quick and efficient monitoring. The best thing is that it ultimately allows our residents to be more independent.”

Leviton’s OmniPro II controller also offers a comprehensive activity log. In addition to the monitoring performed by carers for safety and security purposes, the system provides valuable insights and data for a study conducted by Monash University in Melbourne on disability care.

ELK Products -C1M1 Dual-Path Alarm Communicators with Remote Services

C1M1 offers a truly significant reduction in transmission time in comparison to other communicators that rely on dial capture or data bus decoding. This can result in quicker response time to emergency situations which could save lives and assets. By providing both IP and cellular pathways, C1M1 provides the reliability installers are looking for in an alarm communicator. C1M1 eliminates port forwarding and extra fees for remote access. Installers can remotely upload/download programming changes to M1 controls over IP or cellular using ElkRP2. Consumers can control the M1 remotely via the free ElkLink mobile app and web portal, as well as eKeypad and M1 Touch Pro apps. Other IP-based software and interface partners can connect to the M1 control over the local network through C1M1. C1M1 also provides email/text notifications for arm, disarm, and alarm events. ELK-C1M14GSM supports GSM (AT&T/T-Mobile) networks and ELK-C1M1CDMA supports CDMA (Verizon) networks.
