Hitachi CP-AW2519N Short Throw Projector

John Glad | Hitachi America, Ltd., Digital Media Division, Business Solutions Group

1. How is the CP-AW2519N different from Hitachi's previous ultra- short- throw models?

The CP-AW2519N is an ultra-short-throw interactive projector using the Hitachi Starboard software version 9.41, eliminating the need for an interactive whiteboard. The CP-AW2519N can also use Hitachi's TB-1 wireless tablet, allowing you to annotate over any image from anywhere in the room. In addition,  the CP-AW2519N can be set up in tabletop mode turning any table or desk interactive.

2. What differentiates Hitachi UST projectors from competitors?

The CP-AW2519N uses both infrared and ultrasonic sensors to communicate with the pen. This allows for simple nine-point calibration. The CP-AW2519N uses the Hitachi Starboard suite of software.

3. What applications is the CP-AW2519N designed for?

The CP-AW2519N was designed for any space that can use interactivity, whether it be a classroom or conference room—any place where instruction and collaboration is needed.

4. What trends are you seeing in projector product design and  developments?

We’re seeing more widespread use of apps that can be used with a tablet or smart phone, allowing users to control the projector and annotate over the image wirelessly.

5. What are the benefits of a product such as the CP-AW2519N compared to a physical digital whiteboard?

The CP-AW2519N saves the end-user money in material cost and installation cost. Every interactive whiteboard installation requires the end-user to buy and install two pieces of equipment: a projector and Interactive board. The CP-AW2519N can be used with any existing whiteboard or flat white surface that may exist in the room.

6. What are the benefits of a product such as the CP-AW2519N compared to a tablet and a whiteboard app connected to a regular projector or LCD?

Using the Starboard software you can save, print or e-mail any image on your screen. The Starboard software also allows you to explore websites, navigate through applications and draw.

7. Does the CP-AW2519N have centralized management an reporting?

Yes, the CP-AW2519N has an RJ45 port, allowing you to add the projector to your network. Using Hitachi's free PJMan management and control software allows you to schedule events, use centralized reporting, image transfer and e-mail alerts for reactive and routine maintenance.

8. How are glare and shadows avoided?

When dealing with light, shadows are unavoidable. However, placing the projector 10 inches from the screen to create an 80-inch diagonal image minimizes the shadows that the presenter may create. Using UST technology also eliminates means the presenter does not have to turn to the audience and be blinded by the projector.

9. Can the CP-AW2519N be used for remote conferencing?

Yes it can.

10.  What is the maximum projected image size?

100 inches diagonal

11. Any plans for a 1080P model?

Our current plans are to continue developing WXGA projectors, so while there are no immediate plans to develop a 1080p model, we are always closely monitoring the demands of the market and listening to our customers.
