PALME Q & A

How many exhibitors compared to last year's show?
The new challenges facing the global markets and current economic climate have impacted on PALME . This year, we welcome over 160 exhibitors representing 600 brands (200 exhibitors in 2008) . Those positive figures reinforce that the Event is not only pivotal to the industry but also a recognised source of business networks for regional and international key players . Indeed, the international aura of the show is confirmed with representation from over 25 countries worldwide from Europe, North America and Asia, all keen to tap into the lucrative regional market.

How many delegates have pre-registered for the exhibition? for the conference? How does this compare to last year?
In regards to pre-registration we are substantially up from this time last year! We are confident that this year will be a significant time for the industry as PALME looks forward to welcoming more regional and international buyers than ever before. Also, we have spared no efforts to present a diverse series of key features at the show, seminars and conferences which will provide an unmatched level of business opportunities.

How does floorspace at DICEC compare to last year?
Taking into accounts the new industry dynamics, we have had to alter the floor space from last years show from 17,000sqm to 15,000sqm. Today, the full exhibition has retained its professional presentation and covers 4 large halls, split between PALME, Install Systems Integration, event 360 and Musac Middle East. We have not made any compromise on delivering an international show case.

What sort of impact has the economic downturn had on the planning for this year's show?
As organisers, we spare no efforts in delivering the high standards that the industry expects. It is with a clear understanding of the end result, that we have carried out a more extensive marketing campaign and further promoted the event and industry to a larger international audience ; indeed, recession is a time where communication prevails. The economic downturn has also been an opportunity to source new ideas, bring new features and respond to the industry needs and requests. From our exhibitors perspective, the impacts did not follow an generic pattern; Indeed, we did notice a clear retraction from China and Taiwan but yet an increase from traditional markets such as the UK and US.

While there might have been some downsizing in space from some exhibitors, some other companies have doubled their stand size! Ultimately, we are pleased to present this year's edition with no major absentee .
PALME is the only major international Pro light & sound and staging trade show in the region. Our media exposure extends across more than 70 regional and international industry media; the Event attracts thousands of visitors from the GCC, MENA region as well as African and India Subcontinent.
