One feature of the show was “Demo Alley”.  This is a series of rooms with product demonstrations ranging anywhere from remotes to full home theatres.  The demo that stood out to me was put on by a group of manufacturers to demonstrate a complete home theater system.

The EH Expo fall show was held at the Long Beach Convention center in Long Beach, California.  This year there were 138 exhibitors and while this is more of a regional show many companies did make the trek cross-country to participate.  Whether this trip was for business purposes or simply to enjoy the beautiful November weather in Southern California can be brought into question.  However there was plenty going on at the show including a New Product Showcase, an immersive gaming demo area and a Go Green section.

Another feature of the show was “Demo Alley”.  This is a series of rooms with product demonstrations ranging anywhere from remotes to full home theatres.  The demo that stood out to me was put on by a group of manufacturers to demonstrate a complete home theater system.  The companies and products included in this were:

Onkyo
TX-NR906 Receiver & DV-BD606 Blu-ray disc player

Atlantic Technology logo small
8200e family of speakers

Mitsubishi logo small
The new HC 7000 LCD Projector

Draper logo
106 inch ONYX permanently tensioned screen

Dolby logo
Dolby True HD

They started the demo off by playing a digitally remastered version of the 1966 Beatles song Eleanor Rigby.  It was a great choice in song because most people will recognize the original version and be blown away by how different it sounded in this setting.  They followed this up with a 5-minute clip from the new Indiana Jones movie, a part of the movie that included plenty of action and transitions from darkness to bright light.  It demonstrated the great clarity and smooth transitions of the projector.

The great thing about this demonstration was that the collective MSRP for all of the products used in the demo was under $20,000.  This price point is much more attainable for mainstream consumers and after the 15 minute demo I can tell you that it would be very difficult for a professional let alone your average consumer to point out any major differences in this setup compared to a $75,000 system.

As mentioned earlier the EH Expo featured a New Product Showcase, this was a central area where companies can display their newest product on the market for attendees to touch and feel.

Some of the New Products displayed were:

PulseWorx Lighting Control System from PCS

Cool-stack III is a 2 speed, temperature-controlled 1-unit high exhaust system for mid-size racks with mid-size heat loads! With four 120mm fans and an 18” depth, the Cool-stack III has the power – and the reach – to pull up to 70 CFM of hot air out of tightly-packed racks while generating very low noise levels.
